Black month history…would like to see a stamp with the first black hockey player w.o’ree…not sure of the spelling and he lives in Fredericton, N.-B.
That was Willie O’Ree, according to Wikipedia, who “broke the league’s colour barrier on January 18, 1958 when he made his debut with the Boston Bruins and became the first black player in league history.” He is 83 now and, yes, living in Fredericton.
