5-cent Nonprofit Organization (US 2016)

From the USPS Postal Bulletin, March 31st:

image001On April 28, 2016, in Dulles, VA, the U.S. Postal Service® will issue the USA nondenominated, nonprofit organization stamp (5-cent value), in one design, in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) coil of 10,000 (Item 777500).

The stamp will go on sale nationwide April 28, 2016.

USA, the new nondenominated, nonprofit stamp, showcases the letters “USA” in blue accompanied by a bright red star on a white background. This patriotic design with full letterforms and flourishes is a confident, playful, and celebratory treatment of one of our most familiar abbreviations. “NONPROFIT ORG” is printed across the bottom of the stamp. The USA stamp will be issued in coils of 10,000. Antonio Alcalá served as the art director and designed the stamp with Leslie Badani.

  1. From Postal Bulletin 31 MAR: Item 7775 roll of 10K and FDC 777516 (4-bar) They did not give prices. (RATE CHANGE 10 APR for first-class) address: 22403 Randolf Dr, DULLES VA 20103-9998 No Auto-distrub., No info on ‘strips’.

  2. I wonder if the stamp fulfillment center will offer this one in lots of 100?

    • Write to Maurice Bessette, Postmaster 1104 Plainfiend Pike Oneco CT 06373. He will sell you as many as you like. Coil plate number every 27 stamps. I have ordered 30. (He sold me 30 of the Grapes and Apples, off of the 10K coils) He Does Not do Internet Website Purchases, or credit cards. Mail him your order with a check payablle to Postmaster. ( Old School )

      • I received my order in about 1 week – 10 days. There was No Shipping Charge, and the Coil stamps were inside a paper tube to protect them in the mail.
As ALL of the stamps had some space between them, and the paper-backing could be folded without damaging Any of the stamps, future orders will bear a foot-note “OK To Fold Between Stamps”. That way Mr Bessette can folds them, every 5-7 stamps or so, and mail them in an envelope. Much less work for Mr Bessette.
I sure hope he has some co-workers that will continue his fine service when Mr Bessette decides to retire. The ” Oh-So-Well-Informed ” Managers in Hartford CT shut down Donna in Providence RI …. Go Figure….

  3. From Postal Bulletin 14 APR 2016
    Correction: USA Nonprofit Stamp
In the article “Stamp Announcement 16-12: USA Nonprofit
Stamp,” in Postal Bulletin 22438 (3-31-16, pages 41–
42), the philatelic product has been updated to include current
    pricing.
The price is shown in bold:

     777516*, First-Day Cover, $0.96.

  4. Dear Lefty,

Do we need to add shipping when we write our check to Postmaster Bessette?

    • No. Your Check should be for the value of the stamps you are Buying.
The Post Office pays the return postage.
If you order Coil Stamps, And Do Not Mind the ‘backing’ being folded, every five stamps or so, then let Mr Bessette know. Otherwise he will put them inside of a paper tube so they do not get folded/mangled.
My stamps arrived about a week after I ordered them.

  5. I called the 800 number, the USPS is selling the strips of 25, limit 4?, for $6.25.

    • Ah, bur (800)STAMP24, or USPS.COM, adds a $1.50 Service Fee.
Mr Bessette Does Not charge a service fee. However, he does Not take Internet or Credit Card orders. ( Personal check or Money Order ) Old School.

      • Or in CD Hays’s case, a $1.25 service fee. ( 100 5c stamps + service fee ) I guess thats not to bad, The Canadians charge either $4.99 or $22.00 for stamp orders. ( Beam me up Scotty! )

  6. Well Folks, People on eBay are selling this stamp, At More Than 10 Times Face Value! I had two extra ‘strips of 10’, so I listed them for sale on eBay. I had to list them for Twice Face to meet eBay’s Minimum Price Requirement. ( 99 cents ) When I got back from lunch & checked, They Were Sold & Paid For! ( They were in the mail, in the box Inside the Post Office, that evening. ) I’ve still to see them listed on USPS.COM…

  7. Called the stamp fulfillment center requesting both the non profit stamo and the Grapes stamp. BOTH WERE ALLEGEDLY OUT OF STOCK! Go FIRGURE??? The new quarterly USPSZX catalog ONLY lists older stamps and NONE of the new stamps being issued in conjunction with the 2016 Philatelic StampShow.
The collector’s corner on the USPS site is way behind in posting any of the newer stamps so we cannot pre order!

  8. I Spoke with a lady at The Stamp Shoppe in Minneapolis MN. They No Longer get the Big Coils to split up. Just from ONECO CT, or The Caves.

  9. Interesting commentary , I was fascinated by the information ! Does anyone know if my assistant could get a blank USPS PS 3602-N1 form to use ?

    • Check with your local postmaster or check the USPS.com website (search on “PS 3602-N1”).

  10. 1. Do they have to be presorted by zip before we take them to the post office for mass mailings? This is for the USA Nonprofit stamps
    2. Are there any limit requirements on how many we have to send out at one time with these stamps?
