I am avid collector of inaugural first day covers believing that they are a highly important part of American history. If you examine the offerings by most FDC merchants, inaugural covers are overwhelmingly in a #6 envelope size. This facilitates the storage in albums (95% of which are in # 6 size format. The fact that the USPS decided to issue this cover in a #10 envelope size creates an awkward situation for collectors like myself. Where do I puit it? The $12.95 price tag makes them more costly that most inaugural covers offered on line. Common sense would suggest that the size and cost are related to charging more,to the dismay of many collectors like myself..
