Vintage Trucks

PostNL will issue five stamps on 10 November 2026 featuring Vintage Trucks, or “Oldtimer Vrachtwagens.”

These are trucks that are forty years old or older. Some are kept by private collectors, others by car and transport companies as showpieces or for promotional purposes, and the Netherlands has several museums and vintage truck enthusiast groups.

The stamp sheet was designed by Anne Schaufeli and Huub de Lang, who together form Studio 26. Schaufeli: “We visited museums and websites and learned that there is a large community of enthusiasts who organize tours and other events, among other things. On the other hand, vintage trucks have been of great significance to the transport history of the Netherlands, and thus also to the economy and the development of infrastructure. We wanted to bring these two very different aspects together on the stamp sheet.

“We have selected 5 iconic cars from 5 brands for the stamps,” said Schaufeli. “The photos come from, among others, the Metropole Museum and the DAF Museum. We have also placed a selection of beautiful vintage cars in the edge of the sheet. To the left of the stamps a DAF, an FTF and a Terborg can be seen from top to bottom, and to the right from top to bottom 2 DAFs, a HOGRA, a Terberg, 2 more DAFs and a GINAF.”

“By presenting the trucks separately, they all get a place of honor, almost like objects in a display cabinet,” Schaufeli. “It is reminiscent of a poster on which the cars are proudly displayed, intended to be looked at endlessly.”

“We edited the photos to refresh the color and accentuate the lines, almost as if they were miniatures. The cars do not always have the original colors, because new owners often repaint them in their favorite color. Nevertheless, they all fit within the same scheme of bold, saturated colors.”

The truck makes shown are Kromhout, DAF, GINAF (Van Ginkels Automobielfabrieken), FTF (Floor Truck Fabriek), and Hogra.

Schaufeli and de Lang have designed about a dozen previous issues for PostNL, dating back to 2017.
