The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries
The nation's second-largest stamp collecting newspaper,
Stamp Collector, is cutting back on its frequency. But
editor-publisher Wayne Youngblood says that will make it
a better publication.
"It will be much bigger, much thicker than the current
publication, we're going out to bookstores, it will be
on some of the newsstands
Youngblood promises readers won't be short-changed.
"This doesn't take us out of the news loops by any means.
We regularly scoop LINN'S now; we will continue to do so.
We are just adding much more in the educational and the
quality issues."
Linn's is the biggest stamp newspaper in the world, with
almost 4 times as many readers.
As part of the changes to Stamp Collector, it's being
re-designed to look more like USA Today. That means
mini-polls on the front page, more color, more graphics.
And readers will have more time to read the articles and
ads. Youngblood says that was one of the complaints
they'd heard from subscribers: Too much, too often.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
