The U-S this summer is issuing five Shark stamps. There's no special reason, as far as
we know…. although, when the stamp collecting reporters were first shown the designs last
fall, we joked that the stamps would be released in conjunction with a lawyers convention.

Instead, the launch ceremony is being held at the Newport Kentucky Aquarium in suburban
Cincinnati, where visitors can actually pet some of the sharks. The stamps are also being
issued during the Discovery Channel's Shark Week… possibly at the suggestion of a stamp
collector…. And they go on sale about ten days before Sharknado Five, the latest in the
disaster horror comedy film series, is released.

And, of course, the stamps will be available at the height of summer beach season.
