A common garden-variety stamp.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
[music establish and under]
Flower stamps are always popular with mailers, and Canada's annual flower issue features
two varieties of the daisy that are found in Canada. The yellow Lakeside Daisy is named
after a village in Ohio, but is now found almost exclusively in southern Ontario. The
other is purple, the fleabane, found in higher elevations of western Canada.
Canada Post expects the stamps to be popular for wedding invitations… and the backing
paper for some versions have the lyrics to the 1892 song "Daisy, Daisy" or "Bicycle Built
for Two" … as sung here by Nat King Cole.
[music up and under]
Because this year is Canada's 150th as an independent country, every stamp has
micro-printing of the words "Canada 150."
