The Year Ahead.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

What's in store for U-S stamp collecting in 2017?

First, postal rates are going up January 22nd. That means several new issues, even though
the previous ones were Forever stamps and new stamps really aren't needed.

There are still some key gaps in the commemorative stamps announced for 20-17: No Legends
of Hollywood, Music Icons or World War One, and no blockbuster to grab lots of publicity.

The U-S Postal Service Board of Governors doesn't really exist. The terms of all the
appointed members expired, and the Senate refused to consider any replacements. The only
Governors right now are the Postmaster General and her Deputy…both of whom are HIRED by
the Board. Something's got to give.

The National Postal Museum in Washington needs a new executive director.

And I'll really go out on a limb and predict that countries will continue to increase
their emphasis on pop culture subjects on stamps. They sell.
