The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

Every U-S postage stamp needs the approval of the Postmaster General, but John Potter says he
doesn't get involved in the details.

"To be honest with you, I let the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee guide me in terms of the
stamp program for the United States of America. They have a...there's a very diverse group of
people, who have a wide range of backgrounds, and they're able to bring their knowledge to the
table in history, architecture, many, many other subjects, so I generally rely on them to make recommendations regarding stamps that all the Americans enjoy.

LdeV: Generally, but have you ever put in a suggestion or said, 'Nah, I don't think that one's
a good idea?'

PMG: I've had one or two that I said, 'Nah, that's not a good idea,' or didn't like the art and
asked them to take another look at it. But I don't tell them what to put on stamps. I listen to
them and look at the options that they have."
