by Nicholas G. Lombardi

The North Jersey Federated Stamp Clubs, Inc. will hold its 47th annual show at the Meadowlands Crowne Plaza Hotel in Secaucus, New Jersey May 28-30, 2010. This World Series of Philately show will feature 40 dealers from across the country together with a full exhibit floor of 266 frames. The grand award winner will be eligible to compete in the American Philatelic Society's Champion of Champions competition in Richmond, VA in August. The show will be open from 10:00 am to 6 pm on Friday and Saturday and from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday. Admission is $2.00 Friday and Saturday and free of charge on Sunday. Children are admitted free during all three days and parking is also free for the entire run.

NOJEX is proud to be hosting the annual meetings of the Universal Ship Cancellation Society, the Society of Israel Philatelists, and the New Jersey Postal History Society. Other groups holding regional meetings during the show include the Third Reich Study Group, the Canal Zone Study Group, and the British North American Philatelic Society. The show will also feature the Multi-State Postal History Competition.

Guy Dillaway of Massachusetts will head the NOJEX show jury of 2010. Accompanying Dillaway on the jury will be Steve Reinhard (NY), Liz Hisey (FL), Donald Chafetz (CA), and Hal Vogel (NJ).

The awards banquet will be held on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm. It will be preceded by a cash bar cocktail hour at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $45 per person for a full three course dinner and beverage. Reservations are required and may be made by contacting Henry Laessig, 117 Pearl Street, Westfield, NJ 07090 (908-232-8248).

The Grand Award for the show is a Hummel post coach figure, "The Mail is Here." A Seiko clock will be presented for the Reserve Grand Award and a replica of an English postal scale will be given to the winner of the Sid Schneider Memorial Award. The latter is presented to the best exhibit by a member of the Federation's constituent clubs. Other special awards will include the best exhibit in each section of the show, as well as numerous society medals and awards.

The Meadowlands Crowne Plaza is located at 2 Harmon Plaza, just off the Meadowlands Parkway south of New Jersey Route 3 and just west of New Jersey Turnpike exit 16. For those family members with a non-philatelic bent, the hotel is within five minutes of the Meadowlands Sports Complex and Giants Stadium, some 50 factory outlet stores featuring national brands at discount prices, and the Secaucus Plaza and Meadow Malls with more than 100 shops and fine restaurants and ten movie theaters.
