The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

Next weekend is AMERICOVER '98, the annual show and
convention of first day cover collectors, the people who
prepare special envelopes for each new stamp release. The
show is in Somerset, New Jersey, near New York City...but
if you can't go, you can see some of the award-winners on
the Internet during the show at www.delphi.com.

More and more stamp shows are turning to the Web to give
information before the event and results afterwards.

First Lady Hillary Clinton will speak at the ceremony when
the surcharged Breast Cancer Research stamp is issued this
Wednesday. The stamp is controversial, because, by
Congressional order, it will cost an extra eight cents for
charity -- and expenses.

The ceremony will be held at the White House, which means
most stamp collectors won't be able to attend.

On the other hand, the Hospice Care stamp is being put
off until next year. The planned mid-November release
date was too close to increase in letter rates.

And that's stamp collecting this week.
