Looking to score on the power play.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
The U-S and Canada both have new stamps celebrating the History of Hockey.
"It's two countries celebrating their relationship and the unity between… what bonds us
together. Hockey is a very well-known sport in both places and we both embrace the sport
enthusiastically — and it's a fun subject!" RUNS :12
The U-S Postal Service's Mary-Anne Penner says this is a joint issue: The stamps from each
country have virtually the same designs. In this case, the pairs of stamps from each country
are attached, with one stamp upside down relative to the other.
"It's a mirror-image of a more historical-type player versus a modern player, so when they're
looking in the ice, the reflection is that of an older generation, so it's bonding the old
with the new." RUNS :12
In addition to the pairs of stamps, each country is also issuing a souvenir sheet, a larger
format not intended for mailing. You won't find those in U-S post offices, nor the Canadian
stamps, and maybe not even the U-S stamps. You can order them at U-S-P-S-dot-com or
800-STAMP-24.
Or, outside the U-S, try Canada Post's website, at Canada-post-dot-C-A, or a stamp dealer.
