First look at next year’s U-S stamps
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
The U-S Postal Service is sharing 14 of the issues it plans for next year. They include
President John F. Kennedy and Father Theodore Hesburgh of Notre Dame University, both
born in 1917. The Lunar New Year Series continues with the Year of the Rooster and the
next Love stamp features skywriting.
There will be a stamp to commemorate the new National Museum of African American History
and Culture.
There will be a new letter-rate flag stamp and a whimsical design of Uncle Sam hats for
additional ounces.
Besides flags, mailers like PRETTY stamps, so we’ll get flowers from a typical garden,
sea shells and sharks.
Even though there’s a brand-new butterfly stamp for greeting cards now, we already know
the next one in the series will feature the California Dogface.
Ten stamps will illustrate posters created by the Work Projects Administration, a Great
Depression jobs program.
And there are six stamps celebrating the influence of Latin America on U-S cuisine.
Not announced yet: Black Heritage, Legends of Hollywood, the World War One issue I think
is likely… and the inevitable surprises the Postal Service always serves up.
