Weíre done.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

The Geometric Snowflakes stamps released October 23rd are the last U-S issues of the year.

Mary-Anne Penner, the new head of stamps for the U-S Postal Service, says there wonít be
any surprise issues this year ó unlike the last few years when stamps were still being
released in late November and December.

Itís part of Pennerís promise to stamp collectors:

ďI will try and make the U-S stamp program the top stamp program in the world.Ē RUNS :05

That includes getting information to collectors more quickly and without some of the
uncertainty.

But itís also good for the Postal Service itself. Each year, it sells a Stamp Yearbook,
thatís supposed to have stories and information about every stamp issued that year, as
well as an actual copy of each stamp. Itís intended as a holiday gift item, but that
means it has to be in the Postal Serviceís stores ó that is, post offices ó by the end
of October. Thatís kind of hard to do when some of the biggest issues of the year ó such
as last yearís Wilt Chamberlain or Harry Potter two years ago ó havenít gone on sale yet.

So this year, weíre done by the end of October ó and everyone wins.
