Shopping list.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

Everyone else is talking about holiday shopping this weekend, so why not us?

Unless you’re a collector yourself and the recipient has been dropping hints, it’s a
little hard to buy actual stamps as a gift for a “philatelist” — the fancy word for
stamp collector. Think accessories instead.

Nearly all collectors can use a good strong desk-lamp to examine stamps. And these days,
a computer scanner is becoming standard equipment, too.

A magazine subscription is also a good bet. If the collector already has a subscription,
your gift can be used to extend it. Linn’s Stamp News is a weekly, at L-I-N-N-S-dot-com.
Another is Mekeel’s, at stamp-news-now. American Stamp Dealer & Collector is a monthly,
at american-stamp-dealer-dot-com.

Another monthly magazine, American Philatelist, is part of membership in the
American Philatelic Society, the biggest stamp collecting organization in the U-S. How
about a gift membership? Or a donation in his or her name? Go to stamps-dot-org.
Or how about a stamp society dedicated to the collector’s specialty? You’ll also find
that list on stamps-dot-org.

I'm Lloyd de Vries of The Virtual Stamp Club. For more on stamps and stamp collecting,
