Failing Geography.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

To commemorate plans to build a new Suez Canal, Egypt issued a stamp showing the OLD
one... except that’s the PANAMA Canal on the stamp.

In fact, the picture shows a lock —the system used to raise and lower ships between
different water levels — and the Suez Canal doesn’t have locks!

An Egyptian collector saw the design error and posted it online.

It’s not the first time an Egyptian stamp has misplaced the Suez Canal. A 1956 stamp
included a map that wasn’t right.

But before we laugh too hard at Egypt, the U-S has had some doozies, too... including
printing stamps that put the Grand Canyon in the wrong state, and, when those stamps
were reprinted, reversing the photograph.

I’ll bet nearly every country has embarrassing design errors on its stamps.

These Egyptian canal stamps won’t have any special value... other than to amuse us.
