Gaining APP-titude.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

The National Postal Museum in Washington is the latest major U-S stamp collecting
institution to embrace the mobile world. It now has an app that allows visitors to
the museum to learn more about the exhibits they’re viewing. You can point your phone’s
camera at objects on display, and that will trigger video, pictures, trivia and even
games.

Right now, the app is only available for Apple devices, but visitors who don’t have one
can borrow an i-Pod Touch from the Museum.

Last year, the American Philatelic Society produced an app for its annual summer stamp
show. It proved so popular, the A-P-S has produced one for this year’s show, in Hartford,
Connecticut. It has everything from the show’s schedule to a map telling how to there.
This one is available for both Apple AND Android devices.

And every year, we see more and more collectors at shows checking their inventory on
their phones and tablets
