The subject is...subjects.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
Many people collect stamps by the subject, or topic — such as birds, trains, flowers.
In fact, the second largest stamp collecting organization in the U-S is the
American Topical Association.
Topical collections often include the stamps of many countries, but the problem is
finding all the issues for a particular topic.
The A-T-A has long offered checklists, or lists of the stamps for a particular subject.
Now, though, the organization has gone a step further: The lists can be downloaded
online.
There are 12-hundred of them, including 75 just for different types of flowers. Other
subjects include hairstyles, radio, rodeo — even murder.
The charge is a penny per item on the list, with a minimum of 50 cents and a maximum
of 50 dollars. There’s an additional fee for a printed copy.
There’s just one hitch, though: You have to be an A-T-A member. Memberships start at
25 dollars and for a serious topical collector, it’s worth it.
