The coming deluge.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

U-S postal rates are going up this month, and every rate increase means lots of new stamps
to cover the new rates. Yes, you can still use older stamps and add one- and two-cent
stamps, but mailers don't like to do that.

The Postal Service has some really good-looking stamps ready to go - weather vanes, dogs,
aloha shirts…and more.

Too much more. This month we're getting 13 new letter-rate stamps. There will be SIX new
stamps for the two-ounce rate, and SIX for three ounces.

There are also five postcard rate stamps, plus a new postcard, and assorted other stamps -
all this month!

And all this is on top of whatever Forever stamps your post office still has from last
year. They're still good, too.

Now, you may be thinking, the Postal Service is broke and needs the money, but stamp
sales are such a small part of the budget that it won't make any difference.

So why the flood?
