Stamp Collecting Goes Digital

The Stamp Collecting Report. I'm Lloyd de Vries.

It's amazing how much stamp collecting has embraced the Internet.

Practically every postal agency has a website. So do most stamp societies, big and small.
There are discussion groups in all the different parts of the Internet -- e-mail,
newsgroups and the World Wide Web.
There are stamp collecting groups on Facebook and other social networking sites.

You can buy and sell stamps on the Internet, and not just on eBay. Many stamp dealers also
have their own web sites.

Some collectors exhibit their collections on the Internet, and a few -- VERY few -- exhibit
pictures of stamps they don't own.

The biggest weekly U-S stamp collecting newspaper, Linn's Stamp News, is now offering
ten-dollar online subscriptions...less than a fourth the price of the paper edition. Some
stamp societies no longer print their journals at all; if you want the magazines, you have
to get them online.

It may seem disloyal. After all, you'd think stamp collectors would use STAMPS and
snail-mail But guess how Postal Services send me THEIR press releases!
