You've come a long way, baby.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

There will be a "Festival for Philatelic Women" next spring in central Pennsylvania,
sponsored by a group called Women Exhibitors. Details are at stamps-dot-org.

"Philatelic" is the fancy word for things related to stamp collecting.

According to a press release, the festival will offer seminars, demonstrations,
workshops and more to, quote, "help women get the most from the stamp hobby."

A look at the tentative schedule finds little that's, as the catch-phrase goes,
gender-specific.

As recently as a generation ago, stamp collecting WAS dominated by men. But now? The
immediate past president of The American Philatelic Society — the top stamp collecting
organization in the U-S — is a woman, and there are two other women on its board of
directors. The curator of the National Postal Museum, a keynote speaker at the Festival,
and the editors of the two top monthly magazines are women.

But there's not complete equality yet.

The festival sounds really interesting. Luckily, men are invited too.
