Coast to Coast

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

[music - Leaving On A Jet Plane. Establish and under :04]

Next month, I'll be attending a stamp show on the West Coast one weekend, then on the
East Coast the following weekend. We figure there are about two dozen of us intrepid
collectors making the trek.

The first show is called, simply, Stampshow, and it's in Portland, Oregon, the first
weekend in August. It's the biggest stamp collecting show of the year, whether you
measure it by length -- four days -- the number of dealers and collectors, or the very
rare stamps that will be on display.

The next weekend, I'll be in Stamford, Connecticut for Americover, the annual show of
the American First Day Cover Society, the people who celebrate when new stamps are
issued. And, it so happens, the stamp the Postal Service is issuing at Americover is
CALLED "Celebrate."

Admission to both shows is free. If you get a chance, stop by one of them and say hi.
I'll be one of the guys with jet lag and a Frommer's guide in my pocket.

And that's Stamp Collecting this week. I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News.

Coast to Coast

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

[music: "Leaving on a jet plane...." Establish and under :04]

Next month, I'll be attending a stamp show on the West Coast one weekend, then on the
East Coast the following weekend. We figure there are about two dozen of us intrepid
collectors making the trek.

The first show is called, simply, Stampshow Two Thousand Seven, and it's in Portland,
Oregon, the first weekend in August. It's the biggest stamp collecting show of the year,
whether you measure it by length -- four days -- the number of dealers and collectors
or the very rare stamps that will be on display. During the show, the Postal Service
will issue a Tiffany Window stamp and ten flower stamps that will be available in rolls.
There will be all sorts of meetings, a beginners seminar for adults and Stamp Camp for
kids.

The next weekend, I'll be in Stamford, Connecticut for Americover Two Thousand Seven,
the annual show of the American First Day Cover Society, the people who celebrate when
new stamps are issued. And, it so happens, the stamp the Postal Service is issuing at
Americover is CALLED "Celebrate." It'll replace the Happy Birthday stamps. It's much
more informal than Stampshow, and it's as much a party as show.

On both coasts, I'll be taking some time to see the sights.

Admission to both shows is free. If you get a chance, stop by one of them and say hi.
I'll be the guy with jet lag and a Frommer's guide in my pocket.
