There's no unifying theme, really, to next year's U-S stamps.

"It's really a very good, diverse program, with a lot of fun elements, a lot of serious
elements."
RUNS :05

...says Dave Failor, who heads the stamp program.

The fun elements include Disney Magic, Vintage Mahogany Speedboats, and Spider-Man. The
serious elements include the Jamestown Settlement, civil rights for Hispanics, and a
"Social Awareness" stamp suggested by judges and lawyers.

"Really, the first reaction was 'JURY DUTY? Why would we do that?' but then, when you really
stop and think about it ...I mean, gosh, it's one of the most important things that all
of us as U-S citizens, we really should cherish."
RUNS :10

The famous include Ella Fitzgerald, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and James Stewart.

And there will also be plenty of stamps that are just...PRETTY.

"I really like the pollination stamps, just because it's beautiful artwork and beautiful
images. Steve Buchanan does a wonderful job. I'm a big fan of the International Polar Year
stamps. I think they're spectacular photographs that we're going to use. The Louis Comfort
Tiffany stained glass piece is just spectacular."
