Every Last Drop

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

The U-S Postal Service is a quasi-private company -- although wholly owned by the federal
government -- that is expected to make a profit, or at least break even.

This past year was pretty good for the agency: It had record revenues, record volume, and
paid off all its debt.

One way it picks up a little extra money is with the designs of its stamps. Did you really
like that dance competition T-V show? How about the Let's Dance stamps earlier this year?
You can hang prints of the artwork on your walls. The constellations stamps? There's a
mobile. The Holiday Cookies? Gift tags, coloring books and tree ornaments. There are also
coffee mugs, key chains and lapel pins for these and other issues.

The items are offered online, or you can try your local post office...although which items
are available locally is often hit-or-miss. If you order online, the Postal Service will
also deliver them for you.

Or you could just buy the stamps.

And that's Stamp Collecting this week.

I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News.
