The move is on.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

The nation's largest group of stamp collectors is packing up and moving to a new headquarters.
By now, most of the 50-thousand member American Philatelic Society and the American Philatelic
Research Library are in a former factory that once made matches in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania....
about 10 miles from the old headquarters in State College.

It's not just a matter of moving the several dozen employees and some office equipment....there
are also more than a hundred thousand books, a collection of rare stamps, and other stamps that
are being sold or whose authenticity is being checked.

At a time when a writer in a major newspaper can take a back-handed swipe at stamp collecting, questioning whether anyone still does it....it's good to know the nation's biggest stamp club
is moving into much larger quarters....a real showplace....with room to grow. And who better
to restore an historic building than stamp collectors?

The celebration of the new stamp headquarters takes place at the end of June.

And that's Stamp Collecting this week.

I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News.
