KNLS/AITM Version - MP3 sound file. Arts and Entertainment The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries. That pretty much sums up next year's U-S stamp program. The public wants "pretty" stamps, so in 2004, they're getting both a candy-hearts love stamp and two flower stamps for wedding invitations, along with a beautiful magnolias stamp, and designs featuring modern and Native American art. Even the Hanukkah and Kwanzaa stamps, after years of the same designs, are getting new looks, says chief stamp developer Terry McCaffrey.... <"They were getting a little tired and so we thought 'Well, let's try a new approach.'" RUNS :04> The performing arts are represented by a Spencer Tracey stamp.... <"It features a portrait based on a photograph from a film from 1949 called 'Edward My Son.'" RUNS :06> Another for playwright Moss Hart...and one for Paul Robeson, the actor-attorney-athlete who ran afoul of the Communist Witchhunt. <"I'm sure there will be that level of negativity because of his political activism, which he was cleared of a few years later." RUNS :08> And that's stamp collecting this week. I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News. Additional material for KNLS/AITM: At least two stamps, and maybe more, will feature cartoon characters: The Pink Panther shows up on the Henry Mancini stamp, and Dr. Seuss' creations on his there may be as many as four Disney stamps, if a deal can be worked out. The major historical anniversary next year will be the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. That'll get three stamps.
