No Breakfast at Tiffany's

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

When the Audrey Hepburn stamp was first penciled in for next month, the city
where it would be launched was New York -- the scene of one of her most
famous movies, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and home to the United Nations and
UNICEF, which she worked for as a volunteer.

Good thing that was in pencil, though, because now the stamp is set for Los
Angeles. Yes, it's the home of the movie industry, but that's not why the
site was changed: The Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund has moved from New York
to L-A.

There are often other behind-the-scenes reasons that a city is chosen for a
stamp ceremony. Take the Domestic Violence Awareness charity stamp next
fall: Yes, Denver is the home of the National Coalition Against Domestic
Violence...but the real reason is that the Senator behind the legislation
ordering the stamp, Ben Nighthorse Campbell, is from Colorado. The Coalition
told me it hopes to participate in the event, but it's not organizing it.
Campbell's office is.

And that's stamp collecting this week.
