The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

This year's Legends of Hollywood stamp will honor Cary Grant,
Hollywood's stylish man of the world from the 1930s to the
early 1960s.

"He has always been voted one of the most popular film stars
of all time."

Chief stamp developer Terry McCaffrey says the stamp could be
issued in July. The preliminary design was based on a studio
publicity photo.

Grant worked as an acrobat, juggler and song-and-dance man,
before starring in stage plays in Britain, and then coming to
Hollywood in 1932. A year later, Mae West invited him to
"come up and see" her in "She Done Him Wrong." It's said that
Ian Fleming modeled James Bond after Grant, but he turned down
the role. He retired in the mid-sixties.

Grant joins Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and others in the series,
including director Alfred Hitchcock, who directed Grant in several
of his best movies. In fact, the famous crop-duster scene from
"North By Northwest" will be featured in the margin areas of the
stamp sheet.

And that's stamp collecting this week.
