In the news.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
A West Point Web site claims the U-S will issue a stamp next
year to mark the bicentennial of the U-S Military Academy.
Another source tells me that's "very likely."
When the Peanuts stamp comes out next month, the ceremony
will be held at the Empire Ice Arena -- Snoopy's Home Ice
in Santa Rosa, California. Cartoonist Charles Schulz was
a big hockey fan.
Nominations have closed for the American Philatelic
Society elections. There are two slates of candidates for
the Board of Vice Presidents, three candidates for Library
trustee, and 13 for the four Director-at-Large seats. Three
offices -- President, Treasurer and Secretary -- are
unopposed. I'm the candidate for Secretary.
The 53-thousand member A-P-S also has chosen an architect
for its new headquarters.
France is going to join those countries that allow you to
put your own picture on a stamp.
And the Dummies series of books is planning one for
Philately: Stamp Collecting For Dummies will be published
this summer.
That's stamp collecting this week.
